Majorca is a pioneer in an age of global warming and high pollution. Since November 2008, a total of three new solar parks have started generating power by way of photovoltaics. As it has more than 2,400 hours of sunshine per year, the Balearic island is the perfect place for “clean energy”.  Overall on Majorca there are 21 solar parks, 136 smaller photovoltaic installations and numerous applications for new projects.

A concept with a future: The recently opened, ten-hectare solar park “Huertas de Binipark” in Binissalen is able to supply up to 3,000 households with electricity on its own. In addition to the new, “cleaner” emission-free energy, solar parks also provide numerous jobs for the population of Majorca.
